The biggest Picasso collection to be exhibited

The biggest Picasso collection to be exhibited

07/03/2019
A museum dedicated to the famous painter should open its doors in 2021, in Aix en Provence. At the origin of this major project, Catherine Hutin-Blay, the Spanish artist's daughter-in-law. Upon the death of her mother, Jacqueline Roque, the painter's last wife, inherited many unique and unknown pieces.

The project aims to bring together more than 2,000 unpublished works (paintings, ceramics, photographs, etc.) over 1000m2, but also temporary exhibitions over 500m2. Art lovers will be able to discover one of Picasso's most beautiful collections, made up of works carried out between 1952 and 1973, dates that correspond to the period when Jacqueline Roque and Picasso lived together, hence the future name "Musée Jacqueline et Pablo Picasso".

It is a beautiful tribute that Catherine Hutin-Blay will pay to Pablo Picasso by setting up the future museum in the south of France, a destination dear to the heart of the artist who had set up her studio in her villa on the heights of Cannes, but who is also buried, at the Château de Vauvenargues a few kilometres from the museum.
